Are all Specialized stems 31.8 mm?

Hi folks,

Recently changed my stem to a Specialized Comp Set but I'm not liking the silver faceplate
that goes with it. My old stem was a 25.8mm.

So, there's a guy selling his stem from his Allez and it's all black. Going really cheaply on ebay at the moment so if it stays like that, I thought I could get it for the black faceplate.

He doesn't know what diameter the stem is and it ends soon.

Cheers

If it stays cheap, I can always sell it on again I guess.

I would be careful. When I was experimenting with stems (using ebay as well, btw) I found that every manufacturer seemed to use different places for the bolts, irrespective of the actual bar size. Hence, the face plates were not swappable which was disappointing because I had assumed they were all standard. This will probably be down to naivity on my part.

I am not a Spesh officiando so it could be that all of their stems have the same bolt positions.

Well, managed to miss out on the stem on ebay by seconds!! Must be rusty!!!
Dropped an e-mail to Specialized who told me that there isn't anything such as a spare faceplate available....out of all the thousands/millions they make.

I guess it's a money thing.....you crash and wreck your S Works faceplate....you have to buy the whole new thing again!!

So....I guess I'll have to buy a stem that has a black faceplate, put the silver one on and try to sell that!!

Unless there's anyone that has a black and wants a silver?
