Dutch Food Valley Classic *Spoiler*
Apparently the Netherlands's second biggest one day race.
1. Edvald Boassen Hagen (thankfully given my upcoming PTP picks)
2. Kenny van Hummel
3. Stefan van Dijck (no doubt nicknamed Stiff Dick at school)
The winner gets a ball of edam and some hash brownies.

Apparently it used to be called Veenendaal-Veenendaal and has jumped all over the calender in it's time.Twitter: @RichN950 -

Tbh, it would make better sense for comparison to exclude the sprinters and those not riding the top races...which leaves:
AC
Cancellera
EBH
LLS

I guess someone might call it another shitty small win in a shitty small race.
FF, does your sig line differentiate between shitty small wins and real wins?0 -
Ps "Veenendaal-Veenendaal" sounds so much better than "Dutch Food Valley Classic"0

They rode Fleche Walonne one day and some would ride this on the next day and so it got moved.
Those that didn't ride over there stayed in the Ardennes and rode the Liege Course.Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -

It was a small race, but the UCI promoted it to 1.HC as a compensation after they scrapped the Tour of Holland as a possible ProTour event.frenchfighter wrote:Nice! What type of race is this? Never heard of it before.
Outside of limburg the Netherlands has only a few hills, during this race they ride most of the hills of the "Veluwe" (max. 100m) and the "Hill ridge of Utrecht" (max. 70m). Veenendaal is one of the cities in the valley between these mountain ranges.
It's unfortunate that the race always ends in Veenendaal, often with a local lap, which means there are no hills in the last 10km. If they would move the finish to Rhenen, Oosterbeek or Arnhem it would be more like the Brabantse Pijl.ShinyHelmut wrote:Ps "Veenendaal-Veenendaal" sounds so much better than "Dutch Food Valley Classic"
The region, usually known as the Dutch bible belt, presents itself as the Dutch Food Valley and they sponsor the race. It's a horrible name, but it's the only reason this race still exists.0 -

I vaguely remember watching on a hill climb in the woods between Arnhem and the circuit.
I also tried checking the Arnhem WW2 sites. (which would be easier now with the Internet)Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720
