Hi
I'm new to biking completely, and this is going to be my first bike, so I was just wondering if this was a decent set up for the price.
I'm buying it second-hand but it's in good condition.
Specialized Crossroads Sport 2006
Frame: A1 Premium Aluminium heat treated
Forks: Specialized Sport Cr-Mo legs
Gears: Shimano Alivio rear derailleur and Nexave front
Shifters: Shimano EF-50 EZ Fire 8-speed shifter
Wheels: Specialized forged front hub and Shimano Parallax rear with Alex DH-19 rims
Tyres: Specialized New Crossroads
Handlebars: Specialized alloy
Stem: Specialized alloy
Saddle: Specialized Body Geometry Sport
Seatpost: Alloy
I'm paying £120. What do you guys think?
Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

If it's in good condition go for it. Not bad bikes for a bit of everything.0

I have a 2004 ish Crossroad that I used to rag around York in my formative years. It was a hoot and pretty much indestructible. I know. I tried. With a taxi. Nice bikes and if it all works it sounds like a bargain. Batter than any BSO.God made the Earth. The Dutch made The Netherlands

I had one like that, paid about £320 new if i remember correctly.
That will be a good first bike, fairly upright riding position, not too heavy, decent saddle, mine had a suspension seatpost which i found very comfy.
Buy it and enjoy riding, you will get the bug and it won't be long before you are back here asking "what road bike"He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0 -
thanks for the help.
im just hoping it'll be relatively light and sturdy enough for these british winters, as i'll have to do my daily commute to work.0 -
Does the seller have any receipts or documents with the bike?0

i haven't asked him. why? is it important?0

As long as he looks trustworthy it shouldn't be important.0

Relative to what? In comparison to a £1000+ road bike yes, in comparison to a dutch town bike no.
Where are you going to be riding it, and what for? If it is for pleasure and commuting rides to get you into cycling make sure it fits you well and is comfortable. Weight is only really a factor when going uphill (and even then bike weight is far less critical than people make out) ..so if you live in a flat area, it makes little difference.0 -
Just buy it, you will not be disappointed :?He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0
