the brake pull on the newer 6700/7900 levers is different to the older models though, so the braking won't be 'as good', if you run 6600 calipers. My still be okay but it is worth mentioning.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

The importers will tell you it won't since the cable pull for the front mech is different. You might want to ask at your LBS, consult the Leonard Zinn pages on Velonews or wait for someone on here to say they have done itM.Rushton0

As I understand it the chainwheel spacing is slightly wider on the newer cranks so that more gears are usable on the small ring without noise. Everything should work fine except that the cable might hang a little looser when using the small ring; this shouldn't be a problem.0

ok so im going to order them but i have two options with cables and without.
what cables does it come with and if i can get free normal shimano cables is it worth me spending less? or does it come with the dura ace cables?BMC TM01 - FCN 0

I would be amazed if you experience any problems tbh.
Clearly the marketing men will want you to believe that you need 'full Dura-Ace' for best results.
Not true ,in my experience.
I have Tiagra,105 ,Ultegra and Dura-Ace transmission parts all mixed together on the same bike without a problem.
So long as you stick to the basic principle of shifters/chain/cassette being all 10 speed you should be fine.0 -
thats what i thought but its an expensive purchase and i dont want to waste close to £300.
also on the whats in the box question, anyone know whether it comes with the dura ace cables or should i save £20 and just use ordinary cables that i get for free?BMC TM01 - FCN 0

The shifters should come with brake and gear cables, housing, ferrules and end caps.
Unless they have been removed from a bike prior to sale...0 -
thats what i thought but they are offering it for £20 less without. I can get them for free so i went for that option. Its too late to change my mind now.BMC TM01 - FCN 0

Did everything work out OK with this? I did a piece by piece upgrade from Sora to Ultegra and it went well, planning on doing the same to Dura Ace next year but it's not particularly easy to find out what does and doesn't work!
I need to replace my gear and brake cables and was going to go straight for the Dura Ace sets as they're not that expensive. Does anybody know if these will work OK with Ultegra 6700 SL Groupset? They look pretty beefy and as Shimano lable everything as "designed for Dura Ace" I'm not sure if that's a recommendation or the only thing they'll work with...0
