Routes out of South Nottingham

I am getting a bit bored of my routes out of Nottingham and am trying to find some alternatives with decent climbs.
I currently head out around Belvoir Castle and into Leicestershire and Rutland. Ideally I want to be able to ride out from home - obvious alternative is to head to Bakewell area but that would probably entail driving out.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated - really looking for 50 - 75 miles
Many thanks

I had the same problem when I lived in Beeston.

I find living in Hucknall ideal, if I want to kill myself in sheepsh@gshire it's only 30mins away. If however I fancy flatlands I head east.
Property prices aren't too bad either.Tail end Charlie

Presumably if you get out Rutland way you know all the climbs through Clipstone, Kinoulton and Hickling way!? They are all short sharp bursts but I always used very contrived routes through all the villages to get the climbs in. Otherwise get over the river, out Gedling way and up towards North Notts.
Otherwise it is a case of get in the car and drive. Alternatively, train out ride home or vice versa depending whether you want the climbs at the start or finish. Sheffield direction would give plenty of options.
That's all I can suggest from my memories of West Bridgford life. No shortage of hills round Chorley.
On second thoughts. Selby road always worked for us as school kids.0 -
thanks for the ideas Morstar - I generally head out either through Cotgrave and out towards Stathern, Belvoir Castle etc or out through Hickling etc towards Melton - some lovely countryside but climbs tend to be of the short and sharp nature, like you say which is OK, but I am looking for a new challenge! i have the issue that i if i mention a trip out to the Peaks, wifey and little boy will want to come too and I haven't found a way of combining a family trip with a long blast in the hills.
Any tips on female management much appreciated...0
