My busted Leg

I decided to share my weekend adventure with you guys... and girls. The fact that we are all riders of different sorts, sooner or later you will take a good fall. I'm not talking about the flops or falls that leave you slightly banged up, I'm talking about the ones that leave you sitting on your ass for weeks, wondering if you will ever heal.

Last weekend me and a friend were riding the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte NC. I go there quite often since I live fairly close to it. Everything was going fine, till I came to a cluster of roots. No problem I thought, since I have rolled over these many times before. I will just bounce right over these and keep on trucken. Wrong. The problem was, one I never lifted my front tire and two it was a slow tight, uphill, technical section. So, basically my bike comes to dead stop sending flying towards the handlebars. That wasn't the problem. The problem was, since I was going so slow, I couldn't get clear of the bike and torqued a pedal into my calf. Below is a picture after 4 days, still nasty! So the golden root is, no matter how small the root, lift the front end.

  • Yeah, my photo doesn't do it justice. Nothing broken, but my leg is twice the size and filled with blood.

i'm assuming your monitor can't pick the kewl shades of bruising up........it's quite good. 8)

If it makes you feel any better I fell off sideways at 4mph and completely fucked ribs and intercostal muscles up.

soon heal up that though if you didn't do bone / tendon damage, be sore for a while though.
  • Starting a little war story section here, nice, that's what I was hoping for.

You guys have got me beat, hands down. Hoping to be back on the bike in a week or two, but still can't quite walk yet. Here is a picture of my new old ride.

Sweet! Done my left clavicle twice! Got a nice big lump on it now and I believe it's stronger than ever.

I doslocated my knee, and didn;t know about it. I kept riding for years.
I'm not even joking about this
In fact I still struggle to comprehend exactly what the physio told me I'd done, and how stupid I'd been.

  • Nice war stories! How do you get the link to work for your bikes, I couldn't figure it out from their instructions?
