I like the spat about it being a ride and not a race.... but why on earth where the organisers promoting King/Queen of the Mountains if it wern't going to be quasi competitive racing ?

    I've ridden in the Philly area - to the west of the city 15 years ago and it was not too bike friendly then. I respect all the folks that headed out on the day. Not sure what roads they used or what condition they're in but a lot of US roads have a yellow outside line which disappears quite quickly into gravel should. Not the best. But it's beautiful hilly green countryside. Think of the nice counteryside shots in Deer Hunter for example.
