My rear Fox Vanilla shock is rattling around the rear mounting. I bought new bushings as advised by my LBS, but the rear shock still rattles, especially when I old the saddle and move it up and down slightly. I'm thinging that I may also need new mounting bolts. Any ideas where I can get these. I had a quick look on Mojo but I couldn't find any.

Also, I'm looking for new studs for my Specialized SPD shoes, would regular football boot studs fit into the two front holes or do I need specialist ones from Specialized.

Thanks for any advice,
Ryan

sounds like you need a new mounting kit as well as the DU bushes.

    studs yes.

    Just the du bushings?

If thats all you replaced, sounds like you need new top hats/mounting hardware

Thanks Nick. Where can I find these mounting kits, couldn't seem to find any on Mojo.

Um..about the studs is that "yes" to football studs will fit or "yes" to I need to buy replacement studs from Specialized?

    Ok. Thanks guys =)

I have replaced the DU bushings with this:
    http://www.mojostore.co.uk/acatalog/Fox ... _Kits.html
(the top item on the list)

So, if I understand this correctly all I need now is two new mounting bolts?

fo you have replace the DU bush and the fitting kit.

in that case it should be easy to see if the bolts are worn.

without using the frame push bolt through the fitting kit (reducers) and see if there is play.

It may not even be the shock but the sus bearings.

as the reducers are normally clamped by the frame and dont rotate on the bolts.

Sorry for the wait, a few minutes turnes in to twenty waiting for Photobucket to upload the pics, anyways.

I assume that the reducers are the silver parts in the picture below.

Also in the pic above there is a gap on the left hand side, about a mm wide, which also appears in the other end, should that be there?

I've taken the shock off the bike and pushed the bolt through the fixing kit, like you said, and sure enough the bolts (both front and rear) move around. But, more noticably the rear bolt looks incredibly worn.

The front bolt has no such markings but since it can move around a little too I'd guess it should be replaced as well before it ends up looking like the rear one.

Hope this helps and I haven't got totally confused by what you said earlier.

    new bolts.

and put the shock in a vice and give the reducers a squeeze to make sure they are in fully.

Ok, so that gap shouldn't be there. I'll take it into my granda's shed tomorrow then, he's sure to have a vice I could use.

One more thing, when I'm ordering the bolts all I need are the lengths since both are different sizes or is there any extra information that I may need?

Thanks for all your help Nick, once again you've solved another of my technical dilemas!

if you want the same bolts talk to any seller of the brand.

if you can get away with a nut and bolt pop down to B&Q or any hardware shop.
