    Isn't it the users (probably the same bunch of hippies:D) who put the trails on the layers in Google Earth though?

    yes, but they're not recreating a whole boatload of work for themselves. They're overlaying the trails and paths onto pre-existing map data and images. Data and images that are updated far more reliably, consistently, and accurately than a bunch of hippies who want to rule their own little world.

    It's an interesting discussion. I've been itching to have a ride on the North Wales footpath above Tal y Bont/ Aber and also the footpaths out of Rachub to Garn but I've not had the bottle because of what's being discussed! :?
