Hi Folks,

I currently ride a Lapierre Zesty 714 with OEM Formula Oro K24 brakes. I have tried pretty much everything (I think) but still find myself with the levers over halfway back to the bar and not stopping when I let gravity do its business!

I like my brakes to be either on, or off. I have been reading about Magura Louise Carbon brakes and would like to hear from anyone on here with any experience of these or, for that matter any other similiarly priced options.

Thank you.

(P.S. I've recently put Maxxis Minion DHF on both wheels, WOW, these suckers are the S**T!!! Get them on yours NOW!)

Some brakes, due to levergae reasons are simply designed to have a long, more 'modulated' feel. A larger rotor will make them bite quicker and reduce throw for a given stopping force.

Or som old Hyes brakes may be ebtter.

have you tried adjusting the reach or the pad contact points? as they sound like they are very poorly set up.

I adjusted the reach on the levers, had the fluid changed and then got the guys at Biketreks to check them on a service, all with no real improvement

Unusual...Formula tend to get rave reviews..how long you had them ?? If less than a year get them replaced on warranty..(might be worn seals ?)

If your minds set up on changing...I would have Elixir's to be honest...Merlin usually have some good deals

If the world was flat, I wouldn't be riding !

if you've tired everything else (new pads, new bleed, fluid top up, contact point adjusters, lever throw adjusters) take the wheel off, and then pump the lever a few times (ie when the rotor isn't between the pads), replace the wheeel and the brakes will bite earlier
