Good cycle security advice

Use good quality lock’s, research your lock using sites like http://www.soldsecure.com - Bikeoff.org and of course advice from your LBS and your peers
Lock both wheels and the frame to a bike stand or strong immovable object.
Lock tight so its hard to move when parked.
Secure your lock so it does not touch the ground.
Use two locks of different construction (strong d lock and sturdy chain) thieves dont like carrying different tools to overcome each lock.
Consider this as part of a security package, registration is also important so that your cycle can be returned to you in the event it is recovered. Websites like http://www.IMMOBILISE.com will allow you to record your cycle details as well as scan original receipts/photos and record specific details of your bike.
This website is also searchable to police officers nationally, should they stop someone riding a cycle it can be checked on the street. If the owner has registered it as stolen we can arrest recover property and MOST importantly trace the owner to the bike.
Check if your home insurance covers your cycle when away from home and the level of cover ie is there a maximum claim?
I have borrowed this from KCCyclists, anyone got any other good security advice?

Don't lock it anywhere out of the way. Somewhere that has plenty of pedestrian traffic (not crowds though) and/or is overlooked by shops/offices/cctv will make it more difficult for someone to work on any locks unnoticed.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Don't have a bike that's attractive to steal e.g. choose one that's old, scratched, looks like your gran goes shopping on it, bright pink etc.0

Take a look at your insurance policy, if any - only some locks are covered,

Interesting! I prefer chains for static apps ie at home and if leaving in the same place ie a gert big one from the DIY store, and a good padlock. You can buy 19mm anchor chain online cheaply, which most bolt croppers can't get around.0
