Smoke free, again.

Well, I got in the stupid habit of smoking again over winter. Damn it. Too much stress, and just too much going on to be able to handle it, maybe, but it's still no real excuse.

Anyway, I've now stopped again, 2 days so far, and it's going fine. I don't want a cigarette, in fact, I actively DO NOT WANT one.
But, the funny thing is, and this has happened before...
When I smoked, I'd occasionally pop out for a fag break, now I obviously don't do that any more, but my brain kind of crashes for 5 minutes, as if it doesn't know what to do with itself.
I just find myself sitting there, mind completely blank for about 5 minutes. Very strange.

Anybody else ever had something like that?

Oh, and consider this fair warning if I get more tetchy than usual.

I hope at your age you're not on the devils chimney

But seriously, if you find you need to do something with your hands, then a nintendo DS helped me kick my 40 a day habit, that and just finding something else to do. Like realising i no longer smelt like a tramps waistcoat.
Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.

    Who are you calling inbred?

  • Never even held a cigarette in my hand, let alone actually put one anywhere near my mouth.
I'd rather place my Wee Soldier in the hands of Lorena Bobbitt, give her a pair of rusty scissors and then demand that she do my ironing.

    Nevertheless, best of British, Mcgee.

Cheers guys. I'm not so much after anything to do with my hands, my brain just ceases to work for 5 minutes. I find myself wandering into the car park and standing there for a bit, then coming back in again
When I'm at home, I usually do weights or something instead of having a ciggie.
Just been for my first run since my knee gave in actually.
    I feel GREAT!

Tried a dog end someone threw away when I was about 9yrs of age, nearly died!!!
Well; felt like it. Probably a "Senior Service", full strength.

Then, didn't really try again til late 70's in a Reggae club. Mate of mine had some "Moroccan Black", so got my share.
Then 4 of us went back to his pad, doped up, and listened to "Dark Side of the Moon".
Never tried it since, even though my Mam, Dad, older Bro, and nearly all my family smoked.
  • My first attempt at smoking was with one of those skinny cigars that look like brown fags when i was like 12...omg nastyyyyyyy

I say "probably", because I got pretty baked, and don't rightly remember what it was. Pretty sure it was though.

As the ONLY white guy in a Cardiff Docklands Reggae club, took the edge off the potential danger.

Luckily my mates were from a White mother - Geordie, and Black dad, British Honduras.

Three brothers and me. We were Reggae, women, strip club and alcohol mad, us !!!

I used most hated I-phone games to compensate that something to do 5 minutes. Or actually use it e-net to read forums  . Those games on I-phone are actually ace and put smile on my face. Cigarettes, what cigarettes?!

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though

Have you seen how much I've been posting whilst at work the last few days

It's when winter arrives I'm going to need the luck I think. This seems to be the pattern for the last 4 years or so.
I kept smoking much later into the year much later this time though. Probably because I'm yet to see any actual summer.

    My weird smoking story, true.
We were in Fureventura on a family hol. Me, the Mrs, 2 kids, Mother in Law, Sister in Law and her 6 kids.

Anyway, we were going thro a bad Marital patch and as much as I hated her smoking, I bought her some fags. Things got a bit weird, and at about 1am, I had her bent over the apartment balcony, shagging the butt off her, while she smoked. Soooo Dirty.

Just then, a guy and gal, pissed Spaniards, slipped in the pool we were overlooking.
Then, they got out and tried to steal pool toys/kit from a chalet.

So, I used my best Spanish and shouted "Politzia!!!" Still doing the business!
She was miles away and almost dropped her fag, as she hadn't seen the intruders...

See, told you it was weird!

I think what I'm going to do, is collate Splotboy's posts together, and then write an app for my phone that can produce one at random.
Then whenever I feel the urge for a cigarette, I can just read one of his posts instead.

I'm not sure if thats a compliment...or not, lol!

Anyway, after doing a 3 hr walk on Sunday, from Waunfawr, Telegraph Valley, 1/2 way up Moel Eilio and back...I'm too sore/tired to care.

Saw a guy and two girls doing it too on Mtbs.
Was really humid and they were going great guns.

    Da Iwan !

Probably be easier to do that, I have no idea how to make anything for Nokias.

Would be easy on either iPhones or Android (although, quicker on the Android)

Nokia would take either a simple J2ME app - nice and quick but rarely look good unless you spend more time on it - or if it's a symbian/linux based phone then QT's the way forward. Very similar to iPhone dev.

It's 3 months off the cigs now for me. I like you used to pop out for a 'break' every now and again the first month just felt odd like something was missing i kept walking outside standing there then coming back in. I also used to carry a pen around with me all the time so i had something in my hands. but i'm now smoke free after smoking 30 a day and it feels good.

I quit smoking after 20 years of HARDCORE NICOTINE intake

It was actually easy to do; I just said I'd quit one day, and did so right away

As for the 5 minute brain freezes you mentioned; nope, not had them either!

Keep at it. It's totally doable

Just headbutt your keyboard if you want the same effect. Saves you going to the hassle of making an app.

Surely losing the will to live would make you want a fag even more? ;)
