Looking for some advice on protecting my carbon seatpost. Basically I generally dont need to lower the saddle because im doing general XC. However, i havent been to Glentress or such places with the new post so was worried about it gettin scratched up when clamped in at lower levels.
Any tips?

make sure the inside if the seat tube is burr free.
use a shim and a smaller diameter seat post.
dont worry too much."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

f it's cosmetic damage you're worried about, you can buy seatpost wraps from Crankskins.
http://www.crankskins.com/seatpostwraps.html
You should be able to get some clear wraps if you email EJ.
I've got some codes for 20% off too if anyone else is interested, just PM me.0 -
but then it will be too big to fit down the seat tube. ?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

All their products seem rather odd, why would anyone want a brick effect seatpost!?0 -
Never mind, I read the first bit where he said:Stoo61 wrote:Basically I generally dont need to lower the saddle because im doing general XC.
But the 2nd bit didn't quite register:Stoo61 wrote:However, i havent been to Glentress or such places with the new post so was worried about it gettin scratched up when clamped in at lower levels.
I agree, some of the designs are very webbo indeed. But the clear stuff does the trick, as does the translucent, coloured stuff is pretty good too.
I've had loads of stuff off them in the past, crankskins, frame protection kits, forkskins (yes, I know  ) all in clear though.
It's a damn sight cheaper than anywhere in the UK too.0 -
There's not really much you can do with it, just hope the seattube is quite loose.
And what Nicklouse said. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

Cheers for the advice. Going tomorrow so will just see how it goes, wont clamp it in too tight when its down for the downhills.
I know theres a certain MTFU mentality here but it is DAMN shiney.... :shock:0
