Endura Reactive sun-glasses - do they work ?

Just picked up a pair of these at SITS, part of Endura's 'scrappage' scheme.
Problem is, they don't seem to react to light at all. They're not quite clear enough to be used at night, and while riding in bright sunlight, they don't seem to go dark at all, and it's still too bright with them on, compared to my Oakleys.
Has anyone else had this problem ?
