For anyone who is interested, I rode these three trails last weekend. Here are my thoughts.

Cli-Machx - did this as a bit of a warm up for the Marin trail in the afternoon. The Cli-Machx trail is awesome. Maybe a bit short but that was ideal for us bearing in mind our plans for the rest of the day. Climbs were fine. Singletrack was brilliant. Had to take it easy as the rocks were wet and slippy. The final decent is probably the best trail piece I have ever been on. I think we missed a bit of the trail out as my mate said he saw a wooden wall-ride which we definitely didn't do. I will definatley go back and do this again - hopefully in the dry so we could push on a bit harder and get the speed up.

Marin Trail - hmmmmm, not sure I'd do this again. Sooooooo much fire road for not much return. The best part was by far the few sections before the end where you are rewarded with a some very good / fast singletrack sections.

Penmachno - now bearing in mind I did this with a hangover, I can still describe it as the best ever MTB trail I have ever ridden. We did both loops - the technical singletrack went on for what seemed an eternity. Amazing views, a real sense of being in the wilderness, combined with my perception of it being the ideal length made it just perfect. So natural. One issue, if I really had to mention one, would be that in some places the trail was a little too narrow. Again, I will definatley be back to do this one.

Met a few really decent folk around these trails. We were easily spotted - a bunch of 4 guys, ALL on Orange 5's.

By the way, we stayed in the Glan Aber bunkhouse. For £24 per night, it was a bargain. Comfy Bed and nice brekky.

Cheers.

    Glad you enjoyed yourself.
Your opinions on the Marin trail pretty much echo my sentiments exactly.
The singletrack they DO have is great, but there's just not enough of it.

    Agree with Marin comments.

Penmachno is the best in North Wales in my opinion.
