Hey guys, I've decided to get into road biking and am trying to decide which model to go for.
Little intro: I live in Southern Ontario (Canada), which is mostly urban and agricultural with some parks and forests. The terrain is fairly flat although there are a few little hills. I have a mountain bike and still like riding offroad with it but I've started to use it for longer and longer excursions (60-110km) so I thought a road bike would make sense.
I'm not looking at going into any competitions at this point, just a bike that will take me far. I'm thinking of getting a Specialized Allez, Giant Defy 4 or at least something in that price range. Any advice?

if you can go to a local bike shop and try them finding a bike your comfortable on is the most important thing!0

I tested the Spesh Allez and the Giant Defy 2 and finished up buying the Defy, no regrets so far.0

I'd be very tempted to get something second hand either from LBS or from local ads
One of the other things you can try are local cycling clubs. Their members change bikes very quickly and there's a ready market for complete cycles and parts. They also have the advantage of being immacualtely maintained with reputable histories. You will get a really good quality bike, get into some company for your rides and also have somehwere to go for repairs , tweaks etc

Have a look at the Giant Rapid 3, particularly if you like the flat handlebar riding position like me!Giant Rapid 30

..hi NicD....whatever you go for make sure you test ride for a while and get the right size for you..... you will love any of the above mentioned bikes if they are the correct size I think0
