hi there im not the most well off, so if i got a sram x0 super short cage rear mech would i be able to run it as 8 speed if i set the limit screw right? this would only be for a mounth until i can afford shifter, cassette and chain? and does anyone have a link for a sram 11-23 9 speed cassette. cheers rian

If you're not the most well off, buy something else. X.0 is a hell of a lot of money for very little improvement over x.9.
Hell, even the X.5 or X.7 are fine.0 -

i have x4 mech and x7 shifter and thats crisp, but thanks advise, but would x0 work with 8 speed just as i want to know0

Mechs don't dictate the casette size, it's the shifters. So yes, you can run an 8 speed with an X0.
But as others have said, it's not worth it. If you must upgrade, X9 will get you everything with only a bit extra weight.0 -

hell you could run as amy or as few gears as you want.
