Bianchi Pista

Looked at the Bianchi Pista, only on-line but have fallen in love with it's looks (clean and simple beauty). I realise it's a fixie more suited to a velodrome but would it be any use as a town commuter? I notice it appears not to have any brakes, does one use the pedals to lock the back wheel like I did as a kid? or is this a completely different bike?
Would it be possible to fit brakes? :?

It's legal to ride the bike on the road provided it has a front brake and you keep the fixed gear - if you fit a freewheel, then you should have both front and rear. Suggest you look at one in the flesh before you commit to buy - finishing is a bit gash IMO in comparison to more classic frames - for £500 you could build yourself a nicer bike from a mix of old frame and new parts.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks Monty Dog. I think you have a point .The look of this bike has inspired me and it may be the excuse I've been looking for to build a "retro" bike0

That's the one Chris_King. There's something about the steel finish that's really appealing to me. I could end up with ocd after a while though with all that polishing0

I agree. My friend says it gets stick on the London Fixie forum for being ready built, but it looks so good. I'd also have both of these in my garage too.
