when a sportsman at the very highest level of sport, especially in a sport where its 80% mental, thinks has cant "chip, putt or play at the moment"... he's gone

its one of the most dramatic slides ever in pro sport

    Does golf not lend itself to these collapses though? I know Tigers has been from the highest perch of all but Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle and to a lesser extent Bernhard Langer all did the same.

    Maybe it is actually easier to sustain physical excellence than mental excellence over a sustained period of many years.
