Toe clips to SPD's and saddle height

I have just changed from toe clips to SPD'd on my road bike and have Specialized BG MTB shoes.

I am now thinking that I need to raise my saddle height by about 1cm to account for the higher shoe position due to the clips/cleats.

Is my thinking correct or should I just leave it?

I have done two 60+ mile rides without any knee problems or any other niggles. The only thing I have noticed is that I do not feel as if I am climbing as well as before but that could be the rider

I've been thinking the same thing recently, but my saddle is up at the limit already, so this would involve a new seatpost. I may have to invest in some carbon cylindricalness.

if you think you need to raise it then raise it until you know it is too high and then lower it a tad.

+1. I have a similar issue when I swap my mtb pedals for the SPD-SLs

  • I went to a Chiropractor about my back today and he did seem concerned that I had possibly raised my saddle too much in one go because of my SPDs.

The falling over due to be locked in does seem the be the main cause of my back woes though.
