Evening guys and girls, i'm buying a Defy 3 at the end of the month, a good deal with Pedalon however, i want to upgrade the front mech, but i dont know if the bike is a double or a triple, its 27 speed, which makes me think a triple?

9 speed cassette x 3 speed crankset = 27 speed, so yes, triple.

    Yerp triple.

Don't see why you'd want to upgrade just the front mech? IMO the best thing you can do when getting any giant road bike is to chuck the rubbish kendas that come on all of them, and get some decent contis.

Front mech is about the last thing to consider changing. They are all very similar in weight and operation and seem to last for ever.

Or it could be a double with a 13 and a half speed rear sprocket?

+4 - why the front mech? It's the lightest, simplest thing on the bike. New tyres then new wheels.

Have the Defy 3 myself. That granny gear does'nt east or drink anything so why worry, you never no ond day you might just use it, although unlikely, unless you like blurred legs
Other than that, others have said the rest
