Probably will be a few of these :D

Here's mine though.

Build will involve using some bits from my current build and lots of new bits.

The travel of my current forks was just as much an issue as finding the funds to replace them if they didnt have the adjustment required. Deep breath was taken today, forks stripped and the necessary travel spacer removed which is good news. So as soon as the replacement suspension oil arrives I'll have a pair of recons with 130mm of travel, which is plenty :)

Anyway...

Spent Friday evening ordering lots of bits which is fun

This was all ordered....

One 18" Ragley Mmmbop frameset.
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=39113

Two different weights of oil for forks. They needed a service anyway...
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=8399

New xt cable for the front mech as it is about 4 years old :D
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=27246

4 metres of Fibrax black cable outers
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=11231

1 1/2 reducer headset in black
http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=113

Seatpost clamp in black...Do you see a black theme developing here? :)
http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=271

Still to get are a 31.6 inline Thomson post as soon as 27.2 one is sold cos I'm skint :D

I'm going to keep my brown charge spoon and match it with some brown superstar grips so the basic theme will be the blue frame probably with white decals(we'll see), black cables, head set, seatclamp and stem and brown seat and grips....What do ya think?

Anyway, ist pic :D

Old frame stripped and ready for its new owner, a guy in Finland no less and the component bits cleaned and boxed :)

Can't wait for bits to start turning up....exciting !!!

    Nice 8)
  • Good going.

As I mentioned on my thread, that Superstar headset is a little smaller then the Ragleys headtube, but it's not too bad.

Yeah, I might do something about that. Bit of an annoyance isnt it.
  • Meh, not too fussed if I'm honest.

One thing that reallly amazes me is how solid the frame feels considering it's so light.

    Aye. Finished tonight. :D

    This turned up wednesday..

    100_9344.jpg

    100_9345.jpg

    All this to be fitted..

    100_9349.jpg

By 9pm last night I had this...I actually sat at my missus' house assembling it in the living room :D

    100_9350.jpg

Finished the rest tonight. Decided to be slightly original by overlapping the black over the white mmmbop sticker. I like it. Not brave enough to do it with the rest :D

Basically, kept it simple. Black cables andblack finishing kit. Looks clean if you ask me. Only thing left to fit is the brown grips which should arrive tomorrow which will go well with the seat.

Pleased with myself with regards the fork. Opened it up, changed the travel, changed the oil seals and put in fresh oil. Works well and I have 130mm of travel now. :)

Apologies for the crap pics in my flat..

Loving the bike!! You've made the stickers look goooood!!!

I've gone the other way on mine and taken them off everything. I'm not too sure about the stem though. If you don't mind me asking which did you go for and how tall are you?

I've done the main downtube decals now. Looks good I think. :) Fitted some different grips. Will post some more pics later when I can be arsed to move :D

The stem is the basically from my old frame. Prob a bit long for this. Shall be getting replaced very shortly, Just not sure what to go for.

I'm 5ft11 and I went for the 18". Its a bit bigger than the 18" frames I've used before and I comfortably fit on it.

The old bike being the Duster with the 100mm stem then? Funnily enough I had a Duster before the mBop but a tree got the better of it (London Calling thread pg61).

I demo'd an 18" with a 60mm 6deg stem and it felt good. The choice I've got though is a 50 or 70mm 0deg, am a bit of a tart so has to be Thomson. Am slightly shorter than you at 5'9" so don't want to be overstretched but at the same time want to be over the front wheel enough for the climbs with the forks turned down. Decisions decisions!!

Its an 80mm stem. The Duster had a layback post though. Fairly short toptube they have. I think you will be ok with an 18.
  • the finished lot witht he decals like that Rocks fella! Top job!!

I know. I liked the charge but ultimately i wanted sumat with a long travel fork and this was to good an offer to say no really.
  • I think the Mmmbop is ugly as sin, but that's not a bad job there

    Looks wicked.

As I said on Tolk's thread, really want one.

If I can't get to sit on one to see if it fits, I may just order one and hope for the best.

I saw a article in the papers this week about a boy who was born with one leg too short, they managed to stretch it.

Maybe if the largest mmmBop doesn't fit the same surgeon will consider the reverse operation on my lanky pins.

Nothing fancy (or orange ;) ) about this one...
Changed the stem to the correct length. 60mm Easton Vice.
Added chunkiness and grip with the fatter rubber.
Some nice carbon stem spacers to replace the plain old ones dug from my toolbox.
Considering pulling the decals and going for a plain frame.
Poss change seat to a black one
New Forks at some point. Probably Pikes.

Still looks wicked, just needs a matching Thomson stem and some Hope floating rotors with black centres. ;)
