Newbie t ountain biking needs advice please

Im a newbie to mountain biking and im looking for a decent bike im 6ft2 and 14.5 stone (partly the reason for my recent intrest in biking, trying to lose some weight), was hoping someone could give me some advice in choosing a bike and whatever gear i'd need. thanks.
