Went to change my forks today, took them off and inside the headset had snapped, both the race and the metal surround were broken.

My bike is a Transition Trans Am and it needs a campagnolo compatible headset, which would you recommend? Is this ok http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=9069
Also what is the difference between an 8 and 15mm top cap?

And finally my old forks fox floatsi think have the crown race left on them, are these usually really difficult to get off, as this one seems wedged on?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

    might be,

what does it say on the old bearings? what is the size of the old bearings?

    does the headset have cups?

    got pics?

Looked in the FAQs about removing crown races.

But take care as many are just Campy "like" and are not 45 degree chamfers.

Ok, i think I am just going to get that one as it is 45/45 so should fit and would prefer a dedicated mountain bike headset
