Hello all,

I have been offered a Cinelli Estrada frame as a swap for my Klein, (which is too small :( ). I want to avoid making the same mistake again and getting a frame that doesn't fit, so I have done my inside leg measurements using a book against the wall etc and I think I need a 60cm standard frame or 56-58cm compact.

Does anyone know if the 2005 Cinelli Estrada was a compact or standard frame? The answer will mean a yes or no to the swap and the swapper seems unsure.

Cheers! :)

Given that the important measurement is the top tube length (or virtual top tube on a compact frame) get them to measure it.

He has - it is 57cm. But being new to road riding I'm not sure if that is going to be suitable; I am 6'3" and normally proportioned if you get my meaning - no freakishly long legs or torso. :)

The new ones looks semi-compact, so I assume (maybe incorrectly) that the 2005 version would be similar.

As above though, the important measurement is top tube (and stem length) which governs reach. What is the top tube measurement on your current bike?

As a very rought guide, i would suggest that 57cm top tube +130mm stem would be about right for a 6'3" rider, but you may prefer the next size up if your arms are longer etc, but obviously impossible to tell exactly without professional advice ;)

Edit: get a photo from the swapper?

  • Yes that's the one! Sorry for the slow reply - I've been away for the weekend.
