Having decided earlier in the year to start doing my own bike repairs i've hit my first snag. I want to change the Bontrager Select Triple on my 2007 Trek 5000 to an Ultegra 6700 Double.

I can remove the non drive side crank easily enough but can't work out how to get the drive side out (i.e the side with the cassette) as the is no bolt, just a hole where you can poke your finger through the middle of it. t I have done some research but it seems to be different to most types, can anyone tell me what I need to do and what tools I need?

Ta!

Sounds like a Hollowtech 2 chainset with external bearing cups ?
If so the drive side crank is fixed to the axle running through the bearing cups.
Just push / tap the axle out complete with the right crank.

Thanks for that, must just be well seized! Will try and borrow a rubber mallet this afternoon and perform some percussive maintenance!

OK, have tried again to get it out and no joy. Took the non drive side bottom bracket cup off and i can move it around but it will not shift, anyone got any suggestions? Anyone know a way to undo the drive side bottom bracket cup out while the crank is still on?

You shouldn't need to undo the drive side cup. On the Shimano and FSA chainsets i have used the axle is just a push fit inside the plastic inner sleeve of the bearing cup.
Lay the frame down and support the BB area as much as poss, screw the other bearing cup back in a couple of turns just to keep the axle straight.
Use a block of wood and a decent size hammer and knock it out.
Another pair of hands might be usefull
