Wow... what happened at Greenwich foot tunnel tonight?

Got to Greenwich foot tunnel and on the parallel road there were loads of ambulances, police vans and fire engines all over the place. I reckon about 100 cyclists and pedestrians were milling around the entrance to the tunnel (north side).
Someone mentioned a gas leak, but all the emergency services appeared just to be milling about.
In the end went along CS3 blue route and across Tower Bridge to get home... and guess what? When I got there, bridge closed and road opened up to let a cruise ship go by! Still... got home safely.

I asked the lift operator this afternoon what that was all about and he said that the gas leak was in the DLR tunnel but, because the foot tunnel is next to it, they shut it down from 4 till 6 in case of an explosion taking both tunnels out.0
