i've always ridden mountain bikes and have been known to insult people who wear lycra without baggy shorts on top....however.....on a recent holiday to majorca i hired a road bike and did 50k on it and must admit i've never had a better experience on a bike!
So now i'm looking for a road bike....

rake wrote:i still wear shorts over the lycra, theres no hard fast rules. just never underestimate what some car drivers are capable of, they seem to have no sense of speed with a bike and just assume it must be going @10mph, batting downhill well over 40 doesnt seem to register at all.
...whats that got to do with wearing shorts?0 -

Not sure, but a good point. I make an effort to not look like a lycra roadie. I've found that its a look that seems to trigger a more aggressive attitude in drivers! So it's mountain bike baggies on a fixie for my commute.0 -

Is this some kind of joke? I've got no idea what you're on about. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns

I was quite the other way... when I wa commuting on a MTB, I always yearned to be clad in a lycra bodysuit hacking down a TT route at 25mph....
The weight loss and finances didnt quite go to plan, so Now I have a Modest £1000 road bike and show enough Lycra so that im aero but not making people sick or scaring small children!
Welcome aboard =D0 -
