Every written on here (or other sites) about how good or bad something is, but then changed your mind after riding with it a bit longer? Well I have and I'd like to retract on the following items:

661 Kyle Straits - Like most people I didn't have a bad word to say against them and have been recommending them, but after less than six months the neoprene under the mesh has completely disintegrated, plus the mesh itself has seen better days, pretty disappointing as I only wear them every now and again, If I wore them on every ride I recon I would have gone through them in about 3 months.

Hayes Stroker Trails - These are great..........when they work! But they don't work all that often, problems with sticky levers, horrible noises and loss of modulation...don't think I can continue to recommend them.

Anyone else got any "reviews" they want to take back.....would like to here some positive ones!

Husslefelt cranks/Howitzer BB - Fitted BB, (already had a few problems there) and cranks -worked fine until a few rides later the crank bolt kept coming undone, BB started squeaking, splines were wearing from the bolt coming loose and the BB is pretty much shot now. :x Saint going on next...

Completely agree with Kyle Strait pads - mine are near useless now!

Specialized Fast Trak LK tyres. Brilliant for the first few rides but the tread wore out completely in less than a 100 miles on the back.

Pinnacle MTB frames. What pillock decided that a top tube shaped like an upside down Toblerone (flat upper edge) where the cables run is a clever idea? I remember having to change cable outers a lot leading up to the bike being stolen.

  • The Lonely Planets Guide to Rhyl. Completely changed my mind about it.

  • Flat pedals.... they aren't necessarily better than SPD's... i'm currently enjoying the change to SPD's!

What problems did having a flat topped tube cause?

Ah, but how cheap are they compared to expensive shimano/Sram ones eh?

I'd like to add tubeless to this list. I loved it when I first tried it. Then I disliked it a bit. Then I hated it. Then I was in two minds about it.
Now I'm undecided, but mainly negative about it.

Did I forget to state that?

Mud my friend, the mud would run across the top of the tube and collect at the point where the cables re-enter the outers. Riding the bike through the winter became a chore for maintenance. I think they their more expensive bikes have the cable routing moved to below the top tube though.

Really? I can't quite visualise how that would cause a problem.
Like a lemon, I took a look at my marin in the garage, since that also has large flat-ish (even concave) surfaces.
Then I realised I had fully enclosed outers

Not like you to disagree with everyone else! :D

Pretty glad I got the 661 Evos, awesome pads and still going strong after two years.

    true.
They really are fine though, and they've been ridden to hell and back (including through a monsoon in Innerleithen)
Hell, I've even used them as kneepads when sanding down skirting boards

whatever I may have said about not having problems with on one frame finishing.

I noticed yesterday that the cables are rubbing off the paint between the guides on the TT and there's loads of paint missing on the bottom tube, it's come off in big 20p sized pieces.
