On One Ti 456 - What happened to the leaf spring top tube??

I'm not sure why but can any one shed any light on the following strange changes to the On One 456ti. I have been biding my time to get one but it looks like the 'best hard-tail ever' may not be the same bike this year.

They made good changes that shouldn't have any adverse effects like:
Swappable Dropouts, ISCGO5 chainguide mount, Stronger headtube

But they seem to have made 2 big changes which make me think it may not ride the same at all as the original.

1) On One have changed their manufacturer from Lynksey to Van Nicholas. Why? Lynksey are renowned for being the best, who are Van Nicholas? Is it a cost saving measure?

2) The pictures show the top tube as being completely straight now. The reviews which gave the bike its acclaim commented how the curved top tube acted like a leaf spring giving it an amazing ride.
a) How will it ride now without it?
b) Was it because the shape was too complex for Van Nicholas to make?

Some very good points there. I guess we'll have to wait to see how it rides. OnOne will course claim it is better...

Van Nicholas used to be Airborne. Have a look at the VN Mam Tor.

I've been lusting after one too, s'pose it'll have to be a pre-owned one now though if I want the curvy TT. Ugly head tube on the new frame, although the second-generation disc-brake brace always looked a bit half-baked.

Don't know how VN compare with Lynskey. Cheaper now though. Over a grand before, now £800. Some interesting (and controversial) comments on On-One's site....
The only bad view from the saddle is of the point of impact rising rapidly to meet you.

I would love a Ti frame but i will steer clear of on one in the future after they did not support me at all with problems with the carbon frame, got a ragley frame now, seem the same type as on one with none of the flaws, well done brant!

Van Nicholas are pretty well known judging by the number of ads they put in the cycling press - though probably more on the road bike side of things.

Given they bill themslelves as Ti bike specialists I'd be surprised if they couldn't put a bend in a Ti tube. Then again, if its a cost issue, they might have decided not to? Try asking on the On-One website.
