How many bikes have you had?

And what were they?

1. Tiny kids bike
2. Slightly larger kids bike
3. Slightly larger again kids bike
4. BMX sized, MTB shaped kids bike. I learned to do wicked skids on this one.
5. Raleigh Firefly. First 'proper' MTB. I upgraded nearly everything on it, then stripped it down to use the bits. Last year I rebuilt it and sold it to one of my current housemates for £20 and a cake, so it's still sat outside my house.
6. First custom build. Nameless alu XC frame, went through various builds, from 'freeride' bike, through XC race bike, and finally to commuter bike
7. Azonic Steelhead. I'd discovered the DH course at Cannock Chase, enjoyed it, and wanted a more suitable bike. This weighted more than Saturn.
8. Cove Foreplay. This was an utterly amazing bike. I loved it, and still miss it to this day. Had to sell it due to running out of money while I was unable to ride, and didn't think I'd ever be able to ride again.
9. Specialized FSR. Very old (2001 maybe?). Rode it once, the first year I went to Dusk to Dawn, then sold the frame for a profit.
10. Orange Zero. I decided I wanted to try trials, and found someone selling this for a ridiculously small amount of money. Got on it, realised it was far, far too short for me and I couldn't even hop it properly. Stripped it down, used the parts for other things.
11. Ambrosio Stelvio. First road bike. It was red, and very very fast. I got annoyed by the threaded headset though.
12. Coyote road bike. Frame and fork were bought to replace the Ambrosio. Weighed more, was slower, but had an Aheadset, meaning that I could run my choice of stem, and therefore bar. It's now my dad's.
13. Carrera Fury. Got the frame off Andy and replaced the frame of #6. Still got this as my only current MTB.
14. Cannondale R1000. My current road bike. Custom build around a second hand frame, it's awesome and I love it.
15. Scott Octane. Got it off Nicklouse to try full suspension again after hating the FSR so much, unfortunately it was a bit small for me. Now my dad's, who's a bit shorter than me and prefers a more upright position.
16. On One Il Pompino. Fixed gear road bike experiment. Didn't particularly like it, needed space and money, sold it after a couple of rides.
17. B.Twin Vitamin. Well, I'm picking it up this afternoon. It will be my first completely new bike since #5, the Raleigh, which I got for my 11th birthday back in 1999.

Edit: I'd completely forgotten about the old Raleigh and Peugeot road bikes I had. Making 19 in total.

I *think* that's all of them. I may edit in a bit if I remember another.

Edit: I forgot the Pompino.

    Dunno really...

Started off with a 3 wheel trike, solid rubber tyres and solid wheels.
Then moved onto a blue & white 'upright' bike, again solid wheels and tyres & stabalisers.
This was followed by a single speed flat bar bike, probably 20" wheels, with pneumatic tyres!
First 'real' bike - a Knight racer, in green. 26" wheels and 5spd gears! This was closely followed by a hand-me down from my brother, same bike, just 27" wheels and in blue.
I then had numerous road & track bikes through my youth. The never seemed to last long and my Dad was always upgrading and changing parts on them.
I also had a Raleigh Grifter for my paper-round
1981 - Custom make Reynolds 531SL Frame and Campag Record specced road bike built. (I still have this bike it lives in the bedroom)
Couple of cheap Carlton or Raleigh bikes for touring/training/winter hacks.
Peugeot Raider - first MTB, 18 gears and built like a tank.
Handsome Dog XC Bike - built up from parts - Stolen.
Scott Expert Racing - Replacement for the Handsome Dog - Stolen.
Claud Butler Levante - this was my commuter stead until the frame cracked.
Giant XTC - Just recently been rebuilt.
Kona Coiler (2004 Dee-Lux) - First FS bike. Spent a lot of time hitting the trails with this bike. Now hung up in the shed awaiting a bit of TLC.
Focus Mares CX Bike. This is my current commuter bike.
Giant NRS - built up over the past couple of years into my uber-lightweight-XC-racebike-of-doom.
Ribble TT bike - bought on the C2W scheme.

Think that's it, although I've probably missed something out that I'll remember later...

    1. Kids bike (hand-me-down from my brother)
    2. kids bike that my dad sprayed metallic purple (in an attempt to make me think it was a new bike, not another hand-me down, which it was)
    3. Chrome BMX - 90% it was a Raleigh (hand-me-down again)
    4. Red and white peugeot MTB (first MTB, but it still had smaller wheels - It was a hand-me-down again and I wrote it off in a head-on collision with a car)
    5. Diamond back MTB (yet another hand-me-down from my brother - looking back it had a paint job that was a total rip-off of the original orange clock work - white with orange sprayed at the front and the back)
    6. Specialized Sportrock - my first brand new bike! I thought I was like Jason McRoy cause I had a spesh. oh dear.
    7. Kona Lava Dome - what a great bike, but in my 14 year old wisdom I put a Bomber Z1 Drop-Off on the front and ruined it, framed cracked shortly after.
8.Specialized Fatboy BMX -decided MTBs where too expensive and pissed about on a BMX for the remainder of my school years.

went to uni, forgot about bikes and concentrated on beer, got fat

    9. Kona Kikapu. Inherited some money and used some of it to buy a cheap deal on last years model (2005). Had the worst forks ever (Marz' MZ comp). Still, the frame was good and I spent more money upgrading then twice what the bike cost, until the only thing left was the frame.
    10. Marin Wolfridge (current bike) -great bike if a little heavy, brilliant fun and bombproof, brings a smile to my face every time I ride it...unless it's up a big hill.
    11. Marin IFT - frame swap for the heavily upgraded kikapu. Brought off the Big Cheese, genuinely looked like it had hardly been ridden so I was pretty pleased! It's a great bike for XC blasts, but in desperate need of some TLC now as the wheels, BB are large chain ring are all on the way out.

Starting from what I can remember:
1: Raleigh Mustang (purple with other colours 'flicked' over the top of it)
2 & 3: A couple of (much too big for me) mountain bikes I had when I was about 12-14
4: Barracuda something. BSO style full sus. (Bought with paper round money)
5: Claude Butler Pagan. Bought after uni a couple of years ago, my first "proper" MTB. (It wasn't actually a proper MTB, but it was the first bike that I used for proper MTBing) The brakes, gears and suspension were actually worse than the BSO!
    6: Boardman Pro HT
Potentially 7: Ribble carbon road bike on C2W
    MTB/CX

  • Hand-me-down large three wheeled tricycle with solid wheels.

Hand-me-down Green two wheeler, again with hard wheels.

The next I remember was a second hand red girly thing called "Polo" - proper air filled tyres for the first time that I recall!!... I also recall the tyres being flat a hell of a lot!

BMX - red with pads on the top tube and handlebars and rear pegs! Don't know the make, but much fun was had with that one.

Peugeot something, drop handle skinny wheeled job - my most dull bike ever, but it did get me through my cycling proficiency with the top mark in the class!)

First MTB - Peugeot Flame (couldn't afford a Muddy Fox courier with a rear disc wheel  )
