So after looking at... the Trance, Reign, Anthem, Pitch, FSR, El Kaboing, Sclapel oh god so many i'm going for the Hei Hei 100, ordering it this weekend and just wondered what you think of the bike itself hopefully but also Kona it self as i've never owned a one so far.

Any help is appreciated

Terry

What do you want it for (what kind of riding) The list you have there is quite varied with some harder hitting AM bikes (pitch, reign) and some XC racey bikes (anthem, scalpel).

The Kona looks good as a general XC bike, but won't take the punishment a Pitch would. I think Kona's are pretty good bikes and I've owned a 2005 Kona kikapu (very similar to the Hei Hei) and i really liked it, it's what got me back into mtbs again, but some people think the underspecced for the price, but to me that one looks alright.

I have 2 Konas, and love them.

Can't say that I've had anything to do with the company, as such, because nothing's fell off, and I've had no need. But they come with a lifetime warranty on the frame, as per a fair few makers nowadays.

As M&C says, it's regarded that some are under specced for the price, but personally that didn't bother me really as I went for the look as much as anything.

It's funny that there are a fair few members on the forum that have owned a Kona at some point, and all say that they thought it was a good bike, but not many people will recommend one. :?

As said, the Hei-Hei is an XC bike, I believe the 100 is a new model (?) with (obviously) 100mm travel. I think the next nearest equivalent in your list would be the Trance.

The old model was better looking IMO (burnished frame)... Rutland have some at a grand off. Was 2500, now down to 1450, which puts it at the price of the 100.

Thanks for all the feedback, I was like you Nick but it's growing me the idea. Personally I think the spec is good and i've got a discount from my LBS on top of that so getting it cheaper than the factory pice.

The look of both bikes are not my taste but then again i love super minimal bikes but hard to find these days but that's of no importance.

It seems like a good go so will definetly go with it on saturday, oh, and i'm definetly more of an xc rider i should of added on the first post.

    Happy Days :)
