Some nice quiet country roads, I particularly like the areas around the thetford forest area (which isn't far), fairly flat too.

Give us a holla if you want more info, or a "guide ride"

    Thank you, I will.....
I feel that I'll have to get a UK road map for my GPS unit; that way I can get 25-20 miles away and be able to find my way back to the house  ..... and it'll probably keep the legs in shape by it just telling me "Take a right at tne next........" my new wife may have to post a classified in the Evening News  I've seen weatherproof bar-mounts for the GPS units; I really don't want to spend a bunch of money on a handheld unit to learn a few routes....I had my knee replaced the last week of February and I'm trying to keep my pace below 19mph [like to ride at 16-17mph pace] and the distance below 40 miles.... I have 1200 miles on the bike since the operation and really don't want to screw it up...if the area is basically flat, that means I'll be in the winds 100% of the time without hills or rolling hills....so that'll build some legs as well.... my fiance is from the Norwich & Ringstead areas but not a cyclist....but has no opinions EXCEPT that the bike can't go in the house;..... shed or garage only!!!!

    Cheers m8

You could use a tom-tom, but wouldn't it take you on the main roads? Great for cars but horrible for cycling. My advice for cycling in the UK would be to avoid A-roads if at all possible.

You won't get lost, the roads are pretty straightforward, couple of rides out and you'll know them like the back of your hand!.

Most roads around here are B roads, you've only really got the A47 and A11, and you really don't want to be riding on either really, I rode from Dereham to Swaffham on the A47, and it wasnt a pleasent experiance.

from your way you can go north up towards the coast, head for cromer or mundesley.

Some nice quiet countryside up there and lovely scenery.

Update:..... I got the UK card for my Nuvi 205W and a handlebar mount... I got married on 9/11 here in the US; she's back in Dereham and I'll be over there Dec. 1 thru Jan. 11.... no cycling, just visiting some good friends [Norwich & Ringstead] and enjoying the beauty of the UK at Christmas time... I'm sure they have some good local cycle shops in Dereham...
I saw the "Fat Birds Don't [Can't?] Fly" Cycle Shop on the way to Ringstead [??]..... and 'Oh Yes...I've had some great Fish 'n Chips in Cromer.....
What are the regualtions regarding front &/or rear tail lights??????
