Hi - I'm new to cycling and and looking to buy my first bike. I'd like the experts thoughts on whether or not this is a good deal and a good bike. I'm not going to be a racer and only intend to use the bike for exercise and riding with the family. The price is $995 and here are the specs:

This is a 2001 year model - right? or did I misread the title.
$995 sounds way too much (assuming USD) even if it is in as new condition.
Also note it is a standard double which may make hills challenging.0 -
Yes, it is a 2001. What is a standard double? The guy keeps making a big deal about the wheels and pedals being very expensive... Any validity to that? What's a fair price for the bike as described?0

$995 is way too much for a 9yr old bike, even if bikes have been upgraded.
Especially when you consider that you can get a new CAAD9 for the same price:

Nice bike for it's day. But at best it's worth half what he's after. Personally I'd find something a bit newer for the same money. Look for a Cannondale with a CAAD5 or higher frame.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.
