need headset replaced on bike, will this one be suitable??

    does the headset have cups?

    are they internal or external?

    if external then yes.

    Parktools shows all the standards and there are pics in the MTB FAQ section.

    i may be stupid but that says for mtb, i have a road bike or does it not matter

    Doesnt matter as long as the size is the same 1 1/8 external, as said previously as long as the cups you have are external.
    The one you have selected is the same as that from On one just dearer.

    just looked and need some shifters, 105's for £100 im VERY tempted but will also need new cassette
