You could give Newmillerdam a try and round the back of Howley Golf course near Asda is a few tracks which will take you down into Dewsbury where you can get on the canal towpath which will take you towards Wakefield and Newmiilerdam.
If you go down to Hargreaves bike shop on Bradford road in Dewsbury they have some regular rides which they be more than happy for you to join.
Where abouts in Morley are you?0 -
Hi CraigXXL thanks for the reply. Ive thought about Newmillerdam - a friend of mine said it didn't seem to be so good? Have you been? Ive seen a few videos on YouTube, looks alright to me.
Thanks for the headsup about the local rides - I'll do that. Do you know which day they ride on? Or is it organised sporadically?
Im actually at Churwell, you?0 -
Newmillerdam itself isn't very big but there are plenty of tracks in there to have some fun. It's also on a national cycle route which not challenging will take down to Barnsley and beyond.
Get yourself down to Hargreaves at Dewsbury since you're looking for a new bike. They've got some good bikes in and ask them about local routes they'll invite you along anyway.

I'm from Morley but now living at Heckmondwike0 -
There some good little routes around the back of Middleton Park. Not very big but some tough climbs and fast decents and only a 15 minute ride from your house. Best way to get to them is through Beeston end behind the DPD delivery depot or South Leeds Stadium

Yeah but watch out for the local chavs with their airguns and quad bikes.
See:

for a 25 miler +/-. This route has everything. Quiet roads, hard trails, climbs rough surfaces, woodland and muddy bits most of the year.

Bob that's awesome, thank you. I've been a little concerned with Middleton park and potential Chavy's, today it seemed like dog walking central.0
