Bike offered to me for sale - is it worth it?

My girlfriends dad no longer uses his road bike, as he has a hybrid to commute on now, so he's selling his road bike.
I said I would be interested and am trialling it for a few days.
I want to get some opinions on how much it would be worth?
Would it be paying over the odds if I paid £500?

I tired to research the model online, but nothing came up.
It's a 'Trek SLR Alpha Superlight Race' bike.
It has carbon forks and seat post, shimano ultegra brakes, gears (10 speed - 3 at front), shimano ultregra crankset and bontrager other bits and pieces. Comes with clipless pedals (mtb ones) and some shimano shoes (mtb ones).

Here is a photo (click to enlarge):

Any advice appreciated! :)

I'd suggest more like 300 tbh. And only then if it fitted you perfectly.

Do you know what model it is?
All the models seem to have numbers.

    It's possibly a 1500 from 3 or 4 years ago.
  • Family hey?
    Is he havin' a laugh?
Not worth 500 in the least.... start with can I just borrow it.

I was the one who suggested £500, he said it cost £1300, so I said I would be interested in it for £500. He initially said £300. Meh. It rides well anyway.

Yep, pretty sure it's a 1500, 2006 model. 2011 models are about to come out so technically it's about 5yrs old.

It was indeed 1300 quid new.

Unless you can get her to go to at least 3rd Base. Then it'll be worth it!

    Good call!

Don't want to pi$$ off the future father-in-law.
At least, not before he has paid for the wedding
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

If you're no longer interested, what size are we talking about? Could I have second refusal?

And what about the bike too??
