Garmin 705 and OSM postcode search

I have free OSM routable maps.
But on my 705 it seems I cannot search postcode (I can search address with street no, street name, town name).
Do I need original Garmin maps to search postcode or would OSM do?

Garmin Edge units do not allow a postcode search full stop. Bummer I know.0 -

Ahem..........
Yes it does.
Menu/Where to?/Find Places/Addresses/Enter City/ enter your post code, then enter a number (apparently the number is VERY important, any number will do).
Works for me but then I did get the road bundle with the mapping.
Might work with others............None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

If that is right then I stand corrected (said the man in the orthopedic shoes). This is something I've always wanted mine to do and I remember reading up that it couldn't.
"If I had to find one fault with the 705 it would be that when planning a route you cannot search for a location via postcode. You have to use street name to find your destination which can prove to be slightly long winded but not a deal-breaker by any means."
"I would like the option to enter a postcode in and get directions that way"
etc....
Can't wait to get home and try it now (don't use it for work as I know my way in!)0 -

Success :P
See. Don't believe everything you read on the web.
Including this..........
Is that the ultimate paradox?None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
I suppose you could try putting in Postcodes as waypoints, 'cos all postcodes are freely available now.
I think that just might be more than the Garmin can store though :-)Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.0 -

Wow, and I thought I knew everything there was to know about my Edge, and daviesee goes and proves me wrong.
Thanks for this!0
