Hi, I've been tasked by my local club to looking into racing/riding La Marmotte in 2011, then touring thereafter. Time is going to be restricted and for many this trip is going to be a once in a lifetime in the Alps. My thought has been do the race on Saturday, recovery/gentle ride on Sunday, before riding south to Nice. We'll have 6 days for this from Bourg. Would it be worthwhile to try and fit Ventoux in, eventhough well off the path?
If anybody has some suggestions on the touring bit, and indeed if they know of someone to back us up. All the cyclists will be well accomplished, so not really necessary to have a vehicle following and the cyclists will be able to handle big distances. Luxury certainly isn't a premium either, however no camping! The back up will be more to take bags to the next 2-3 star hotel and be pointed in the right direction.
Comments/thoughts/contacts welcome.
Many thanks
Nick

Might be able to help, albeit they both tend to get pretty well booked in advance for Marmotte dates.Between me & Eddy Merckx we've won pretty much everything worth winning on a bike.0
