I am a recent convert from MTB to Road. I have an old Spesh Allez which is lovely but I want something new and shiny.

Not huge bucks cause I am new and it will be wasted. Something that can handle a 10 mile commute and 50 miles at the weekend.

I have narrowed it down to:

Scott Speedster S50
Viking Torino
Giant Defy 3.5 or 4
Trek 1.1/1.2

I really, really like the look of the scott and as far as I can tell not much in them. The Torino seems to have slightly better running gear but unsure about the brand/quality. The scott looks stunning (I have always wanted a Scott) but the other look good too.

Help!

How about an old Spesh Allez?

I like the Allez but the wheels are buckled and the chainset is missing teeth. By the time I have repaired/replaced them I am half way to the cost of the above.

More to the point, I have the C2W scheme so may as well use it to get a deal.

    Heh heh. Fair enough!

If you like the look of the Scott then there you go, you have your choice!

But that means you save half the cost of a bike....

    :?

But I would still prefer a new one with 12 months warranty and lighter better kit. Again I want to take advantage of the C2W scheme

I am not trying to be akward but I would like a new bike on the C2W scheme and I was just after some good advice on which of the choices would be best in terms of kit, suitability

Yeah, fair enough - didn't realise you were using the scheme, in which case I probably would too.

Bike choice is subjective. Go with what fits you best and feels right as this is the most important factor. Eye candy is a serious consideration as we all want to look good but make sure the bike fit is the first priority.

Of your list I would suggest the Scott or the Trek 1.2 or if you can stretch your budget (and still under the C2W limit) I would go for the Trek 1.9.
    Trek Madone 5.9
    Kinesis Crosslight T4
