Whats it like as a place to live?

I've been to the Castle not long ago, the area seemed nice.... full off wannabe free runners though

better than chavs I guess!!

Edit: I like that the 1st pic you see on the Caerphilly website is a couple of MTBers :D

  • Possibly.... conference call interview tomorrow :)

Would have liked to be closer to Cardiff, but I did like Caerphilly. Would be nice to be a bit away from the city too!

Is there much there apart from a castle?

good luck with the interview :D

TBH there's not that much there, you're right on the border of the valleys, but you're only 20 mins from cardiff. there's some really good riding around caerphilly and cwmcarn is only about 20 mins drive away. if you wanted to be in cardiff try thornhill in cardiff. it's the very top end of cardiff with a train station to either get into the city or out to caerphilly(amongst all the other places) and it's only about 10 mins drive into caerphilly or 10-15 mins into cardiff centre.
  • Cheer mate :)

Gotta sell this to the GF... need to be near my job, near cardiff and near some great trails!

    Caerphilly sounds perfect!

need to stop getting my hopes up though :(

I live in Caerphilly (moved here around a year ago) Its certainly not the worst place to live with a few good places to ride and some good mountain walks (if that's your bag lol). If you live a certain distance from the castle you can get free entry to use as much as you like, which is handy if you have friends/family to stay and you want to show them round the sights (it would be free for you as a resident of Caerphilly not your friends/family)

Plus you'll be right on the taff trail which is an easy way to cycle into Cardiff if you didnt want to drive or catch the train.

I Keep meaning to head out with the guys from castle bikes as they seem like a nice bunch whenever I visit the shop but so far work has stopped me!

    Good luck with the interview!

good work, I'm soon to be approaching Arriva about transferring to their company and driving trains in south Wales, although I have a time scale of it being in the next 3 years
Mountain biking is like sex.......more fun when someone else is getting hurt
