Vulcan Slips Gears

Hi all,

Been out on my first bike in 20 years, yesterday i bought a Carrera Vulcan V Disc Spec, bike is great but can anyone tell me why it jumps gears, i notch it up or down and sometimes (more often than not) it jumps one or two extra gears. Usually when left hand lever is in 1 and right hand levers are in 3-6. At times there is a chattering from the chain too.

No idea what i am talking about as you can see last bike i owned had 3 gears, should it jump?

As you can see on my other post i am a big chap but jumping has been happening on the level . Its very annoying.
