Blaze Hill

OK....so I got my first road bike in March and have been tootling the Cheshire lanes since. More recently my eyes have started wandering over to the hills to the east.
So yesterday I took my first venture over there, from Northwich via Alderley Edge, down to Prestbury and Bollington. Then up Blaze Hill, down past Lamaload Reservoir, up the other side, and then down Cat and Fiddle. I had to stop once on Blaze Hill, and then a bit of pushing up the other side of Lamaload reservoir, but really enjoyed the ride.
I have a couple of questions;
*How challenging are those hills in comparison to others up in the peaks?
*My bike has a 39/25 chainset - should I be expecting to get up those hills on that set up or should I be thinking compact if I want to ride over there regularly?

Lamaload is a bit of a bugger. Especially descending it! :shock:
Keep riding with what you have, you'll be fine.0 -

No, Dan wouldn't take any because he was a squeamish girl.
The X-rays were on computer and they wouldn't let me have a copy
It now looks a lot like this though at the top, with a couple more bolts near the ankle.

Thanks Nap - sounds painful!!
I'll just keep going till I can do it all in one go. Any tips for any slightly less savage routes up there are more than welcome!0 -
There's tougher climbs in the area but those 2 are still fairly hard.0
