Converting downtube shifter mounting points to cable stops

Hi, upgrading an old frame and want to convert the downtube shifter mounting points to cable stops. I was hoping that I could get some braze on ones and swap them straight over - however closer inspection today revealed that the two mounting points are connected, joining within the frame, and the two holes on each side of the frame are too large to take standard bolts and are not threaded.

Any simple solutions I could try - this must have been quite a common issue when people were first upgrading from downtube shifters to integratred brake and gear levers.

Kind regards

JT

Kind regards

I can't picture the bike from your description: will these not work? They are the standard solution for traditional downtube shifter bosses.

If not, then I'm afraid you have some system I've never seen. However, I thjink I've seen band on versions of the above, which could be mounted ahead of the existing lever bosses, whatever they are.

Thanks, they look like they may well work indeed, if the domed part slides over the gear lever bosses - where do get them from?

They used to come with both Campag and Shimano shifters; these days they may not, but most bike shops either stock or can get them. SJS cycles are good for this sort of thing, if you want to order online, though all the usual suspects (Wiggle, etc) will surely sell them too.

Got mine from SJS. Just fitted them tonight to replace the plastic ones I had on before.
