stroke length difference?

hi, just wanted to know if it will make that much of a difference running a rear shock that is .25 more in stroke length than current shock. i ride an upgraded big hit and want to replace the current 8.5x2.25 with a 8.5x2.5.

1/4 of an inch, so 6mm of shock travel. Rear wheel, depending on leverage ratio may move another 20mm. This may cause it to hit something. Unless you run enough air toprevent it.
