I have just bought a Giant Defy Alliance bike abd I noticed as I was adjusting my saddle the torque guidelines on the frame....can anyone offer advice on whether I need to buy a torque wrench for this type of job( I only do very basic maintainence on my chain and leave all bigger stuff to LBS where I bought the bike).

for saddle/seatpost, do it by feel
they do not need much to tighten them, so use a short allen key and stop way before the maximum you can apply with finger power
if you can't shift the saddle position by hand then you've got it tight enough, if you can, then give the bolt another quarter turn and try againmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0
