Garmin TC fails to restore data

I have just rebuilt my PC, reasons are not important.
When I try to restore the data which I have diligently backed up for years, the whole program just locks up, I have tried just about every trick I know and still to no avail, anyone had this problem?
If you see the candle as flame the meal is already cooked.

    I think I've successfully rebuilt my PC and didn't lose my track database (which is bladdy massive, takes ages to load up in training centre!).

    PRJ45, thanks it was just a time issue, it's a big old backup file and takes ages to load, windoze does have a bit of a hissy and tell you that the program isn't responding, but it eventually finishes and all is now well.

    Innuendo and double entendre aside I don't actually know, didn't look at the file size.
    probably fairly large, as there is 2yrs of data, and as I ride most days, I guess that's a lot.
    Think I may have to break it down by year.
