Basically, I want to know the distance of my route, which could easily be done through Google maps and the like, other OS map sites, but all the ones I've tried so far 'snap' to a path/road etc. is there any software / websites that allow you to input your own selected path and give you details of distance etc? The path I use cannot be seen however follows alongside a river so shouldn be too hard to find, anyone shed any light?

Cheers.

If you sign into Google Maps, you can use the Distance Measurement tool.

    +1 for bikehike

The user interface isnt brilliant but it does allow you to plot onto OS maps which is really useful for mtb routing.

I usually export the file and view elevation details etc on a separate application (trailrunner on a mac)

Map my ride is good, just make sure you un-check the box on lefthand tool bar thingy that makes it automatically follow roads

Bikehike is awesome. Map on OS and Google at the same time. Watch out for the little "swap map sizes" toggle button so you can make the OS map bigger than the Google map
