Combining different brands??

Hello anyone who might advise - I have a hybrid bike, 8 speed shifters, 48t XT chainset, ultegra rear mech and deore fornt mech. Need to replace the cassette and chain, can I fit a SRAM chain and cassette and run it succesfully with the shimano stuff described above or does it need to be shimano? Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Yes. As long as it remains as such. If your mechs and shifters are Shimano it should work fine.
