Hey guys, i know this sounds newbie but im looking for new wheels and i have found a nice pair of mavic ex729's. But, im worried that because the rim is really wide (36mm), will the tyres hit the inside of my frame? My bike is a marin east peak fsa, thanks guys.

it depends on what tyres you fit.
so what tyres are you thinking of fitting to some DH rims?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hang on, somebody told me that the numbers for Mavic rims was the rim width, so the ex729 is NOT 29mm wide then?0

breath.
but again they are a DH rim. a DH frame will have no problems."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Internal is 29mm, external will be 36mm.0

The tyrs are 2.3 and a 2.2, thanks.0

a bit thin for that rim. 2.4 and up would be better for the rim.
But the rim does not really change the overall width of the tyre just changes the profile.
so you may end up with a really nasty ride form them where they dont grip in the corners etc...."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

what, so the 36mm wont really make the wheel wider, just the tyre profile more square?0
